Speed dating event: Cupid & Roses

Although Valentines Day was Monday, the Black Student Union and Pacific Unity Association are trying to prolong the love festivities by hosting a speed dating event called Cupid & Roses on Friday, Feb. 18 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

Cupid & Roses will take place in the Student Event Center across from The Lair. All single students are encouraged to come. This is an opportunity for students to get a date or make new friends. If nothing else it will probably make for an interesting night.

The event will have two parts; the speed dating portion will start at 8:00 p.m., allowing the daters to meet each other and chat for a few seconds. After the speed dating is over, a semi-formal dance will be held until midnight.

“I might go to Cupid & Roses just to try the speed dating thing. I’ve never been to those kinds of dates,” Ramon Ruiz, a SLCC student said. “If I don’t have anything else to do I’m staying for the dance, because if I don’t get lucky on the speed dating I could get lucky on the dance floor.”

Cupid & Roses is free, and open to anyone that wants to come and try out his or her luck on getting a date for the weekend. The dance, however, will be $2 with a OneCard and $3 without it.
