Sorry Kanye, Doug Benson is the best interrupter of all time

Most people by now have heard about Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMA’s, but what about Doug Benson’s interruption? Starting on Friday, Nov. 5 on Comedy Central, comedian Doug Benson will host a new show called The Benson Interruption.

The Benson Interruption will feature Benson doing one of the things he does best, interrupting his friends.

“I’ve always standing in the back of the comedy club while the other comics are on stage, making jokes about what the comics are saying,” Benson said. “Not necessarily insulting them, just sort of adding my own comedy to it, and that’s what the TV show is about, me bringing my friends on stage and I jump in with whatever nonsense pops into my head.”

Comedians like Nick Swardson, Adam Carolla and Patton Oswalt, as well as many others will be making appearances on The Benson Interruption.

Benson isn’t really famous for interrupting people so much as his documentary Super High Me, released in 2007. Super High Me is based on a joke Benson told about the documentary Super Size Me.

In Super Size Me, director Morgan Spurlock eats nothing but McDonalds every day, three times a day for 30 days. In Benson’s spoof of the movie he is filmed not getting stoned every day, all day for 30 days and then getting stoned all day, every day for 30 days.

Just like in Super Size Me, Benson goes through a series of tests during each 30-day period. His math skills, lung capacity and memory are a few of the things that are tested.

Although a lot of his jokes are based on his pot smoking habit, the new show on Comedy Central won’t be focused on that.

“I think that when people watch [The Benson Interruption] they will go ‘Oh my gosh that guy is a pothead,'” Benson said. “I think that will be pretty clear, but this wasn’t about pot smoking like some of my other endeavors.”

The Benson Interruption airs on Comedy Central this Friday, Nov. 5 at midnight. For fans of Benson, interrupting and a little pot, it’s something that surely shouldn’t be missed.
