Not every student wants to pack a sack lunch around and it can be a hassle leaving campus to go somewhere and eat. Where can a student find time to fit a meal in to their busy schedule? SLCC students are constantly on the go. Running to get to classes, hurrying to make an appointment with a counselor, or keeping up with other school-related responsibilities gets hectic. Students often spend a good portion of their day on campus.

SLCC’s Taylorsville Redwood Campus is the home of Bruin Bites. Bruin Bites is the food court located at the Student Center in the heart of the Taylorsville Redwood Campus. SLCC students have a wide variety of restaurants to choose from. With great daily specials students can’t go wrong. Students may be looking for a drink, a snack, or even an entire meal. Bruin Bites has every angle covered.

Plenty of seating also makes Bruin Bites a nice, relaxing spot where a student can eat or maybe even work on some homework if they need to. The food court also features an outdoor patio where students can dine, socialize and enjoy the warm summer weather.

Restaurants at Bruin Bites are also open early for breakfast. Bruins Brew opens up at 7 a.m. and gives students that early morning jolt of energy. They serve up drinks ranging from warm café mochas to ice-cold Italian sodas. With prices starting at $1.45 this is a great way to start the morning.

If a student needs more than a cup of coffee to start their day, Café Nuevo has a breakfast burrito that will satisfy any hunger. There is an assortment of Mexican-style food here. With tacos starting as low as $1.39, SLCC students can dine on a small budget. Café Nuevo is open all day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so breakfast, lunch and dinner are available to students.

There is even a place at Bruin Bites for a student to grab their own pizza. Chef Tom’s Pizza and Pasta is open daily for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Whole pizzas run anywhere from $6.00-$11.00, depending on how the student builds the pizza. They also have salads, pasta or specialty dishes available starting at $4.25.

Bruin Bites offers something for almost every taste. Golden Seas Express gives students a chance to enjoy the cuisine of China at a low price. Cobblestone Market is a sandwich, soup and salad restaurant. Cobblestone Market has submarine sandwiches as low as $5.00.

During these hot summer months, nothing is better than a nice cold drink, except of course for a Slick Smoothie. Slick Smoothies is open early at 7 a.m. and serves up delicious refreshment until 5 p.m. With flavorful mixes of all types, there is something here for every student’s taste buds. The Double Chocolate Blended Crème Smoothie is worth its weight in gold. The rich chocolate flavor topped off by mouth-watering whip cream and chocolate syrup will leave you quivering.

Luckily, SLCC students have the perfect option available to them concerning food choices. SLCC students can get a quick meal at a great price. What makes it even better is the convenient location – right on campus. Stop by Bruin Bites and see what tickles your taste buds.
