The Sugarhouse Park firework show was to be canceled this year due to Salt Lake City’s budget cuts and needed to raise $75,000 for permits and supplies to cover the costs. The Salt Lake City community and many local and national businesses stepped in to raise $85,000 to entertain an estimated 35,000 people.

Businesses donated percentages of sales over various time periods all across the valley. Benefit shows were held, hair was cut, radio broadcasts were made, even young children purchased “I helped save the Sugar House Fireworks” buttons from Noodles & Company, Wholefoods Market, and Jamba Juice to show support and love for this 22 year tradition.

One of the top donating companies was Walmart, giving $25,000 to see the show continue. Other sponsor’s consisted of ABC 4 News, X96, Yes Utah, Smith-Crown Co., Westminster College, Intrepid, Ray’s Barbershop, Renaissance Flooring and Interiors, Smashburger, and the Sugar House Journal.

Donations are still being accepted to ensure more shows to come. Please see powamerica.com for more information.
