The Student Art Show

Though calls for entries into the 2010 Salt Lake Community College Student Art Show have ended, you can still support your friends and fellow students.

You may have already seen the flyers around the campuses. In red and black text on a bright yellow background and a black pointing hand, Justin Floyd’s winning poster shouts out all upcoming art show events in vivid, stylistic fanfare.

After members of the SLCC Visual Art & Design faculty view submissions, people from the local art community will also judge the pieces.

The awards reception will take place Friday, Apr. 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Student Center Oak Room at the Taylorsville Redwood campus. There, winners, their families, teachers, SLCC faculty and special guests will see students receive their prizes including cash rewards.

However, aside from the money rewards, all winning students also have the pleasure of public recognition. All students who entered can also derive valuable exposure to building professionalism.

Pieces will be showcased during the actual art show, running Apr. 5 through Apr. 16, though it will be closed Saturdays and Sundays. On the days it’s open to viewers, the show will take place 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Science and Industry building Atrium on the Taylorsville Redwood campus.
