Shostakovich at Utah Symphony

Jan. 29 and 30 marked the prelude of renowned Swiss conductor, Thierry Fischer’s first concerts as the new music director for Abravenel Hall in Salt Lake. Performing Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony, the Utah Symphony played beautifully and left the audience feeling enthused and wanting more. Sitting comfortably in a shroud of gold, muted light, from the glittering crystal chandeliers above with balconies coated in real gold plating, the splendor of the hall complemented the music, beautifully.
