Bruins perform enlightening poems and memoirs at the reading held in the student event center Wednesday night.
Brandon Alva the faculty advisor of Folio hosts the reading Dec. 5 in the student event center where he states his appreciation for the newest Folio magazine.
“We are really happy with this semester, we have a great magazine. It looks gorgeous,” says Alva.
Folio gives students the opportunity to share the art that they have made and to get it published in a public forum.
When bruins submit their literary work to the Folio magazine gives them a chance to receive public feedback and encouragement.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn about the publication process and to a certain degree about self-marketing,” says Alva.
Folio becomes a great tool for any student who wants to see their work published and to further their educational resume.
Folio also offers an online downloadable printable book for those that choose the cyber route.
SLCC students can look forward to a more expansive magazine as the Folio staff plan to upgrade it in all forms.
“We are going to expand the website, we want to do more multimedia work and try to emphasize that, get more students from the film department and web design department to submit cool stuff that their doing,” says Alva.
Copies of the Folio magazines were given out free to those who attended the reading. Additional copies will be available in the student writing center or visit Folio online to view submissions and download full color version of the magazine.
