The Salt Lake Community College improv team, Majoring in Improv, will host the Improv Survivor Competition on Friday, April 24.

Majoring in Improv will be competing with local improv legends, Quick Wits, and Sasquatch Cowboy from Ogden.

Each improv team will have eight members including one backup.

More information
To find out more about the SLCC Drama Club and improv troupe, contact Rick Kimball at rkimball@bruinmail.slcc.edu.

“Each member of our improv team seem to naturally fall into certain roles based on their strengths, weaknesses and personality type,” says Greg Carver, President of the SLCC Drama Club.

The first half of the two-hour competition will consist of improv games where performers need to make split second decisions on a range of situations, showcasing their ability to think on their feet. Those will be followed by a final hour of “elimination games” where three teams and 12 performers, with the help of audience feedback, will battle it out until only one performer remains.

Improv Survivor will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre, located on the second floor of the South City Campus.

Admission is $5, with proceeds going towards helping maintain SLCC’s Drama Club’s ability to continue hosting this and other events, as well as other theater related activities.

Majoring in Improv troupe member Austin Grant, expressed that SLCC students that enjoy sidesplitting comedy and interactive fun, need not look any further.

“This event is great for a Friday night date! Just come and enjoy the show,” he says.

The troupe will also perform Wednesday, April 22 at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus at 12:45 p.m. in the Copper Room. That show is free of charge.
