This week is National Hunger and Homelessness Week. That means it’s also time for the Mass Communication Center Food Drive.
The Mass Communication Center (MCC) is sponsoring the food drive. All nonperishable food items that are donated will go to the Bruin Campus Cupboard.
“[The Bruin Cupboard] benefits our students here, but also it benefits the students who don’t have food for this time of year,” says Zac Hodge, manager of Radio SLCC, and one of the main people involved in the MCC food drive.
The MCC Food Drive will be taking place from Nov. 17 to Nov. 26, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, at the South City and Taylorsville Redwood campuses.
There will be boxes in Communication Department classrooms at South City where students can drop off donations. Students can also go to either room 1-054, The Globe Newsroom, at South City Campus or room 318D of the Technology Building at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus to donate.
There will be RadioSLCC remote broadcasts at the atrium of the South City Campus throughout the week to promote the food drive.
For every can of food a student donates, they will be entered into a drawing for prizes such as gift cards or movie passes. The winners will be announced after Thanksgiving break via email.
Students who are in need of food can go to the Bruin Campus Cupboard during their regular hours. They are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in room 2-152 at the South City Campus.
