20 free T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots are available for checkout from the Markosian Library at Taylorsville Redwood Campus.

A mobile hotspot connects multiple devices to the internet, including smartphones, laptops and tablets. The device allows SLCC students without an internet connection at home to do their homework or research from anywhere they choose.

Students who want to use a hotspot will need to bring their OneCard to the Markosian Library reference desk. The hotspot checkout period is 28 days; after that students must return the device or check it out again, depending on availability. According to library staff there is currently a short waitlist.

Each hotspot has a monthly data limit of 6 gigabytes on a 4G LTE network; maximum speeds will be slowed on any bandwidth used beyond the monthly allowance. The data limit is reset on the 21st of every month regardless of any checkout period.

Unlimited media streaming from Amazon, YouTube and other services is included.

Students can save on their data allowance by turning off the device when not in use, or connecting to another Wi-Fi network when possible.

Visit the Markosian Library or call the reference desk at 801-957-4610 for more information about the free Wi-Fi hotspots.
