Sports briefs: No. 8 SLCC wins at Region 9/18 Challenge to remain undefeated

The Salt Lake Community College men’s basketball team dominated the Casper College Thunderbirds 79-44 in a neutral site game in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on Thursday. SLCC also defeated Western Nebraska Community College on their home floor 85-81 on Friday.

The Bruins (6-0) return to Salt Lake to open their home schedule versus the Salt Lake All-Stars on Friday, Nov. 21 and Impact Academy on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Women’s basketball splits pair of games at CSI Tournament

No. 10 SLCC lost to Sheridan College 71-69 in their opening game of the CSI Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho on Thursday. The Bruins rebounded from the loss by defeating Athleticz Allianz 76-57 on Friday.

SLCC (4-2) will head to Gillette, Wyoming to play against Northwest College on Nov. 21 and Gillette College on Nov. 22.

Volleyball claims No. 6 seed at NJCAA national tournament

SLCC volleyball, ranked No. 6 in the NJCAA poll, enters the 2014 NJCAA Division I Volleyball Championship as a No. 6 seed. The Bruins will take on the 11th-seeded MSU-West Plains Grizzlies in their opening match on Nov. 20 at 9 a.m.

The tournament takes place Nov. 20-22 in Casper, Wyoming. Matches will be streamed live via NJCAA TV.
