According to shopping trends, sandals are the footwear of choice during summer months. With notoriety when it comes to ease and comfort, people choose them to keep cool and blister free. But when it comes to coziness, one sandal claims to outshine all the rest.
Originating in San Clemente, California, Rainbow Sandals were designed in 1974 to give customers a footwear option that could withstand significant wear and tear. Rainbow’s founder, Jay R. Longley, got the idea from the days he spent on the beach throwing away broken tattered sandals.
When asked what set his sandal aside from the thousands of other brands Longley responded,
“Rainbows are created by hand, using specially formulated glue to keep the layers together and straps in place. No more broken straps will be littering our beaches.”
Aside from the “specially formulated glue”, Rainbows have mastered memory foam. After a variety of tests with different densities of sponge rubber, Longley and his team claim to have found material that would mold to the shape of the foot, producing unmatchable comfort.
Though popularity of Rainbow Sandals is high in beach towns like those in California, they are gaining popularity by comfort seekers all over the country, especially in the state of Utah. Scott Hintze, a Utah resident and Salt Lake Community College student, had nothing but praise when it came to talk of his Rainbows.
“I’ve been wearing the same pair of Rainbows for more than 10 years. Rainbows are without a doubt the most high quality sandals I have ever worn,” Hintze said.
Despite the comfort, the price of the sandals can occasionally be a turn off according to buyers. With a price range of $20 to $46 the sandals don’t come cheap.
“I don’t like the idea of forking over $50.00 for a pair of sandals. It seems like a pair for $5.00 or $10.00 would serve my purpose just fine,“ said Chris Holdaway, an SLCC student.
To ease the customer’s mind about paying a little more for a pair of sandals, Rainbow Sandals offers a lifetime warranty.
“We love hearing stories from people about the comfort they enjoy and the countless miles they’ve walked in our sandals. Our customers love their Rainbows. We hope you will too,” Longley said.
